WSB-TV Highlights Legal Delays in Connor Mediate’s Case

Nearly four years after the tragic death of 24-year-old Connor Mediate, the case against his accused killers remains stalled. In a recent report by WSB-TV Channel 2 Atlanta, Connor’s parents, Joe and Tara Mediate, spoke candidly about the emotional toll of waiting — and the lack of progress in the court system.

Trial Delays Continue with No End in Sight

Connor was killed during an attempted robbery in Alpharetta in October 2021. Two suspects were arrested and charged with felony murder. However, since then, the legal process has been plagued by repeated delays and judicial holds.

As reported by WSB-TV, the case was placed on hold in September 2023 due to one defendant’s request for a separate trial and a scheduling conflict involving his attorney. Although that hold was lifted in October, no trial date has been set.

One of the most heartbreaking revelations in the report is that one of the defendants is currently out on bond — having paid only a portion of the set bail amount. “$18,000 to walk free after being charged with felony murder?” Joe Mediate said in disbelief. “That’s not justice.”

Connor’s Parents Speak Candidly About the Pain of Waiting

In the WSB-TV segment, Tara and Joe Mediate express the frustration and grief of living in limbo for years while the legal process drags on. Their voices join countless others across Georgia who have suffered not only the loss of a loved one but the prolonged trauma of a system that seems to prioritize delays over accountability.

“We want the people of Georgia to know this isn’t just our story,” said Tara Mediate. “There are other families living through the same nightmare — and it has to stop.”

Why This Matters for All Georgians

The Justice for Connor movement isn’t just about one case. It’s about pushing for bail reform in felony murder cases and demanding timely, transparent court proceedings that prioritize victims and their families. The current system has allowed individuals charged with the most serious crimes to walk free and let cases drag on for years.

Connor’s story has now been covered by multiple major news outlets, including FOX 5, 11Alive News, Atlanta News First, and WSB-TV — a clear sign that the public is paying attention. But awareness alone isn’t enough. We need action.
